Over the next four decades the world must produce 70% more food to meet the needs of a growing population. It must do so with limited resources, against the challenge of climate change and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It hails a new era of sustainable agriculture and responsible sourcing. A recent EU Commission study stated that the carbon footprint of Irish meat and dairy products is amongst the lowest in the EU. Food Harvest 2010 is Ireland's roadmap to exploit the growing global demand for food and drink. Our goal is to expand output and grow exports by over 40% in this decade.
